The Reckoning of Power

The Reckoning of Power

The strongest steel is forged by the fires of hell. It is pounded and struck repeatedly before it's plunged back into the molten fire. The fire gives it power and flexibility, and the blows give it STRENGTH. Those two things make the metal pliable and able to withstand every battle it's called upon to fight.
~ Sherrilyn Kenyon

Like all superheroes, I at first rebelled and denied my own superpowers. But as time passed and I matured,

I have learned to not be afraid of my own awesomeness and to embrace the superpowers that have been bestowed upon me by the gods of the universe—to use for the good of my life and others around me.

There is pure joy and a quiet reserve of infinite longing to return to my origins... to remember that in all things, there must be reckoning—to recall the powers that one holds and that must be exercised.

What one must reconcile within her own heart is the daily work: to practice, to hone, to sharpen the knives so that she may be ready to execute the will of the Self through the mind.

There are stories to be created, shaped, and molded in each of us. We must not look away. There is joy in earning our own privilege through meaningful labor. And not all work is created equal.

So the wise sage tells us in every folktale, every allegory, every fable… we must learn to not look away. We must take on the challenges that reveal our own greatness. This is the true meaning of living—and of living well.

Whatever superpowers you have, learn to look for them. Recognize their worth. And above all—you must exercise them. Only in the practice will one learn the wisdom of discretion.
